Transportation
"Auto Safety Inspection" certifies students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles Safety Inspection Law. The prerequisite for this class is a valid driver鈥檚 license. Held Mondays and Tuesdays, August 12 & 13, from 6鈥�10 pm, this class will cost $75.
"OBD Emissions Control Inspection" certifies students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles OBD Emissions Control Inspection Law. The prerequisite for this class is 鈥淐ertified Auto Safety Inspection.鈥� This is also a Recertification Class. Held Mondays and Tuesdays, August 26 & 27, from 6鈥�10 pm, this class will cost $75.
Business
"Notary Public" is required for anyone interested in becoming a Notary Public for the first time. It is recommended for all notaries as a refresher course. Note: The current edition of The Notary Public Manual for North Carolina, March 2016, ISBN: 978-1-56011-851-0, is required for admittance to the class and can be purchased online at the new 麻豆视频 eCampus bookstore. It is strongly recommended that you study the guidebook prior to class attendance to be better prepared for the state examination given at the end of the class.
NCGS 10B-5(b) provides the following requirements to be commissioned as a Notary Public in NC: 1) Be at least 18 years of age or legally emancipated as defined in Article 35 of Chapter 7B of the General Statutes; 2) Reside or have a regular place of work or business in this State; 3) Reside legally in the United States; 4) Speak, read, and write the English language; 5) Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; 6) Pass the course of instruction described in this Article unless the person is a licensed member of the North Carolina State Bar; 7) Purchase and keep as a reference the most recent manual approved by the Secretary that describes the duties and authority of notaries public; 8) Submit an application containing no significant misstatement or omission of fact. Students must provide current state or federal picture identification for admission to class. Active duty military and civilian ID cards DO NOT meet the identification requirement.

"Real Estate Pre-Licensing" provides an intensive review of topics and prepares the student for the NC Broker licensing examination. Topics covered include real estate terms, contracts, leases, ownership, licensing law, finance, listing and closing of property, property valuation, and building construction. 80% of classes must be attended in order to take the state exam. The prerequisite for this course is Work Keys Reading and Math, Level 3 or higher, or verification of a post-secondary degree. "Construction Training 鈥� Build a Tiny Home" Learn the basics of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC by partnering with Habitat for Humanity and building a Tiny home, giving you the skills to either enter the trades workforce or to continue your education with a trade specific class. Held Thursdays and Fridays, August 22-December 13, from 8 am-2:30 pm, this class will cost $197.50 plus the cost of the text.
"Electrical Level I" introduces trainees to the electrical trade, safety, circuits, National Electrical Code, device boxes, hand bending, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, electrical construction drawings, residential electrical services, and test equipment. The prerequisite for this class is "Introduction to Construction Skills." Held Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 13-January 23, from 6鈥�9 pm, this class will cost $221.50 plus the cost of the text.
"Forklift Operator" will earn students the National Safety Council鈥檚 (NSC) lift truck operator certification by successfully completing this class. Minimum age is 18. Held Wednesday, August 14, from 8:30 am-4 pm, and Thursday August, 15, from 8 am-noon, this class will cost $85.50.
"General Contractors Update and CE" This course provides General Contractors with the necessary 8 hours of Continuing Education needed to renew licenses. This includes the 2024 Mandatory Course, which is required for your 2025 Renewal. Held Saturday, August 24, from 8 am-5 pm, this class will cost $125 plus the cost of the text.
"NCCER Construction Project Management" provides students with the skills necessary to work as a construction supervisor or job foreman. Management skills in people and problem-solving, planning, estimating, safety supervision, scheduling, and controlling costs and resources will be taught. Held Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 20-December 12, from 6鈥�9 pm, this class will cost $221.50 plus the cost of the text.
"NCCER HVAC Level 1" covers an introduction to HVAC, trade mathematics, basic electricity, introduction to heating and introduction to cooling, an introduction to air distribution systems, basic copper and plastic piping practices, soldering and brazing, and basic carbon steel piping practices. The prerequisite for this class is "Introduction to Construction Skills." Scholarships are available for this class. "NCCER HVAC Level 2" covers the following: alternating current, compressors, refrigerants and oils, leak detection evacuation recovery and charging, metering devices, heat pumps, basic maintenance, chimneys vents, and flues, sheet metal duct systems, fiberglass and fabric duct systems, commercial airside systems, air quality equipment, and introduction to hydronic systems. The prerequisite for this class is "HVAC Level 1." Scholarships are available for this class. "Plumbing Level I" will introduce you to the plumbing profession, plumbing safety, tools of the plumbing trade, plumbing math, plumbing drawings, plastic pipe and fittings, copper pipe and fittings, cast-iron pipe and fittings, steel pipe and fittings, plumbing fixtures, introduction to drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems, and introduction to water distribution systems. "Welding Fundamentals" focuses on the fundamentals used in basic MIG and Stick welding. The class is designed to provide basic welding skills training. The focus is on safety and techniques, including metal cutting and fitting, and welding skills using generally recognized industry processes. This class is not a prerequisite for Welding Level 1. Held Saturdays, August 3-January 18, from 9 am-1 pm, this class will cost $297.50 plus the cost of the text.
In "Welding Level 1," students will earn an industry-recognized NCCER Welding credential. Level I introduces trainees to the mastery of basic welding skills and techniques, including safety, metal cutting and fitting, and welding skills that use generally recognized industry processes. Technology
"CompTIA A+ Certification Prep" prepares you to become CompTIA A+ certified, the industry standard for establishing a career in IT, and the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and operational roles. Learn to troubleshoot and problem solve, better understand a wide variety of issues ranging from networking and operating systems to mobile devices and security, and build the skills and knowledge to advance from A+ to Network+ to Security+, allowing you to complete the entire track and obtain all credentials. Each course counts toward DoD 8570 Information Assurance qualifications. This is one class in a track of three certification preparation courses and can be taken in any order. Held Tuesday-Thursday, August 20-December 12, from 6鈥�9 pm, this class will cost $185 plus the cost of the courseware ($171). Scholarships are available for this course.
Education
"Pathway to Teacher Assistant" is the first course in a series of two. This course is designed to fulfill 48 of the 96 hours of continuing education credits required for employment in the local school system as a Teacher Assistant. This course provides a review of skills needed for the successful completion of three WorkKeys Skills Assessments: Workplace Documents, Applied Math, and Writing. This class includes skills review in the areas of reading comprehension, math, and writing. It also includes computer skills training. "Early Childhood Education-Intro" qualifies students for the NC Early Child Care Credential (NCECC) issued through the NC Division of Child Development and Early Learning with a course grade of C or better. Topics discussed: daily schedule and routine, developmentally appropriate strategies, thematic planning, designing indoor and outdoor learning environments, nature preschools, and professionalism.
